We believe that our studio provides a unique environment in which confidence, poise and creativity are instiled through the exploration of classical, moder and contemporary themes; where techniques of speech and song are employed in order to render an effective interpretation. However, the studio is also, as our accountant is wont to remind us, a business and, as such, must conform to certain standart accounting practices. To this end, we will require that payment be made at the beginning of each month in the form of post-dated cheques for both private and group lessons. We sincerely believe that a streamlined fiscal approach will foster more consistency and commitment to the overall goals of our students and will ensure that the pragmatism of business will not impinge upon the creative process. |
Our drama classes for both kids and adults focus on classical, contemporary and modern themes. We develop applied improvisation to strengthen students' technique. Our private classes are individually designed to support students' current theatrical endeavours or to explore and develop new skills. |

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Kids will come to the studio and they want to be TV stars and they want an agent. They want to put the cart before he horse. I try to make it clear to them that they need the tools to have longevity in thier career, if that’s the career they want. So we work o things like speaking properly, good diction, articulation and projection. We work on physicalising and motivating the physicalisation. Breathing properly and supporting the voice so we don’t loose it. We work especially hard on technique. Technique is the tools that will save you when you have a problem, because you will be able to solve the problem yourself by going back to your technique and breaking the problem down and finding the solution. If you don’t have those tools, you will be a flash in the pan who will never be able to fix the problem. I teach them how to find the music in the text and how to find the text, or the story, in the music. I’m not a singing teacher, and I don’t profess to be one, but I am a really good coach so we tend to work at least 15-minutes on something musical, as well as just spoken text, because they go hand in hand. Singing is an extension of speaking and I think that it needs to be instilled in kids, when they come to study, that singing is not as difficult as they think. They have to have that freedom of believing in themselves so that when they are asked to sing they won't say I can’t. They'll say I’ll try it. I’ve done that before. If you would like to know more about our classes, or if you'd like to sign up, please give me a call at The Storefront Studio at 416-762-0910 or 416-232-0910. Gerald Isaac |
